Hello everyone. I must say that I have the best hairdresser in the world. She is my cousin Kendra, and she's been cutting my hair since 8th grade. Since then, I've gotten one cut that wasn't from her (And I did not enjoy it all too much.) I trust no one else. Which is why I only get my hair cut about two times a year, because I hardly ever see her! But I just got my bangs cut on Christmas, and even though I don't think anyone thinks it's as drastic of a change as I do, I still feel like a new person. Mmmm.

This is a (blurry) picture of Crrr. Mmmm. She came over to my house on Monday. If you haven't figured out that I'm home yet, something's wrong. :)

So it's not as if every morning before I moved to Portland I would wake up and say "Curr" but it feels SO nice to do it again. Even if it wasn't that often of an occurrence to begin with. Being home is good. Not quite as weird as I thought it would be, but not totally normal. It definitely seems like my life in Portland is separate from my life here. Like there's a Conifer Crrr and a long-distance Crrr. Which is maybe not a bad thing. Maybe it is? I don't know. I'm just glad there's a Crrr in both my lives. Hehe.

The Fourteenth of December

Friday, December 18, 2009

Here are some images from our two year anniversary. I honestly can't believe it's been that long, it feels like it went flying by. I feel so lucky to have him in my life every single day. =)

So I found this print of mine on the drying rack tonight. I had thrown it in the darkroom trash about a week ago. This is what happened to it in the trash over the course of that week :) Heehe. I kind of like it.

Stuff IV

I am taking a little break from Flickr. But still taking pictures (obviously.) So here are some from the last few days!

9 Days Away

Saturday, December 5, 2009

Steele and I have made a paper chain counting the days till we leave Portland for Colorado. :) Today there are only 15 rings left! It's so crazy that my first semester of College is almost over.

Something even crazier: This picture shows the ring for December 14. Which is mine and Steele's two year anniversary. It's so insane that we've been together for two years. When I think about my past I can't separate the memories where I was dating him and not, it's all one big blur. (Which I suppose is kind of bad. I'm so horrible at remembering stuff. Often times it really bugs me. I'm afraid I'm going to forget everything that I'm feeling or going through.) I am going to start working on his present soon :)

Stuff III

Wednesday, December 2, 2009

I feel so good today :) I've been feeling pretty crappy lately.. mostly physically but today is a different story. I spend a lot of time thinking about what I want to change in my life and so of course, my brain immediately goes to new years, because it's coming up. Last Saturday I realized that I shouldn't have to wait until new years to make resolutions. I'm sick of setting a date to change things. When's a better time than when I think of it? So today I exercised for the first time in a long time. :) I also had a salad for dinner. I know it might sound stupid, but it's not about losing weight at all, it's just about feeling good. I also want to start writing more letters! So if anyone wants a letter... And I really want to start logging off the internet for a while. (Ha, ha, as I type this..) But that one's hard because so much of my life revolves around stuff on the internet. That sounds unhealthy, but it's not as creepy as it sounds I promise.

So I took this cup home from work the other night, thinking I'd do something with it. But Steele needed it, so I let him cut it in half to mix his paints in. I think it's beautiful :) And now I have something to photograph!

The start to a kitchen full of cups

Saturday, November 28, 2009

Yesterday was the opening night of OCAC's annual student holiday sale. Basically a bunch of students and alumni selling whatever artwork they feel is desirable. Steele and I picked up this little cup, from a former thesis students body of work:

I am basically in love with it. Isn't it just the cutest? Only $8. Such a steal. (Hah.. ha.) And the glaze makes it translucent, when it's held against light. Mmm. I hope I have this cup when I am old. But mostly I like it because it's the first thing Steele and I have bought together that will one day sit in our kitchen. We bought it as a family <3 I've also purchased a kitchen item, but I'm keeping it a surprise from Steele until Christmas! (Which really isn't that far away..)

I read on someone's Flickr profile that shooting SOOC has made them a better photographer. After the past few weeks, I couldn't agree more. I've been shooting in manual mode lately which has just turned out to be so so nice. I used to just shoot in auto and as long as it was in focus I'd call it good and edit the lighting and colors later. Now I actually take the time to pay attention to the shadows and highlights. While the photo's I've left SOOC might not be the best ones on my photostream, they're pretty damn good for being left unedited. Here are a few recent ones:

So I know this is a horrible amount of photos to put all in one post, but oh well. Today I got out of photo early. So I came home at about 1:30ish, and the light in the living room was perfect. (So perfect that I just accidentally typed 'The lightroom') So I decided to do another stop motion. So I did, and after I was done I just could not stop taking photos. Steele appeared in some of them. (There are more with him on Flickr.) Enjoy! And by the way, these are all SOOC.

Dawn of the Golden Eternity

Wednesday, October 28, 2009

This is my first stop motion. I realize it's only 22 seconds long. (I couldn't even make it to 30...) But I had an elaborate plan, I did, it just started getting dark REALLY fast (which you can see..) So I left it at that. But I do plan on doing more with this, hopefully building up to some bigger pieces..

Weekend Air

Saturday, October 24, 2009

Mmmm, it's officially fall. The air is all crisp and chilly. The leaves are all soggy though, because of how often it rains, haha. But, I still managed to pick this one up and do a little work with my cup. I am going to try to do more things with it, I still have 16 pictures to go on my 25 Possibilities.

The product of the past 6 weeks of work:

I am still getting everything finished up for my critique on Tuesday (spot-toning, mounting, etc.) But I thought I might as well post my finished prints since I'm done with them! :)

Stuff II

Friday, October 16, 2009

This may look grainy and too dark, but you had no idea what I had to work with. Basically, I am a miracle worker. (Or at least I know how to work Photoshop.) It was pretty much completely black except for the Apple logo. And now it looks like this. Genius or what?

So this is our 'Family Room' (As the blue prints call it... We really just have two living rooms.) It used to be completely empty but we recently moved some furniture around so now it has a couch and two chairs and a table. I also put up two of my photographs, yay! So it's nice and cozy. Perfect for doing design homework, eating Captain Crunch, or reading Stephen King. Just some of my recent activities...

A look of utter determination

More and more digital photography is become like a release. Since we have to work primarily in film, digital is something I can do without worrying if it's going to be good enough for art school...

Things have been going really good though. Hopefully in a few days (maybe even tomorrow) I'll be able to post a new photo that I've printed :) The only thing I'm not happy with right now is that a lot of what we're doing is really basic. I'm in two foundation classes which cover basic topics. (like perspective, value, and elements of design.) I already know most of this, so even though the assignments are new.. it's just plain boring. I'm really looking forward to next year when I can take some other electives. (Like bookmaking, yay!)

Thursday, September 24, 2009

Hey! This is my first print from Photo 1. And before I start off talking about it, I really really recommend you view it on black. So go do that real quick and come back!

This was taken at this fountain called the Ira Keller fountain, in Portland. (Somewhere around 2nd or 3rd, I'm not sure.) I snapped this off on the first role I film I shot, for 'The City' project we're doing. Honestly I'm quite pleased with it, but more importantly I'm pleased that printing is still semi-natural to me. I'm not an expert, at all, but I still feel at ease in a darkroom, which is good. Considering I'm majoring in photo, haha. This was printed at f5.6 for 15 seconds, with a number 3 filter.

I'm definitely planning on going back to the fountain to shoot more film there. It's so interesting because I don't relate a city to this kind of picture at all. When I think city, I think dirty and grimy, and grungy, but this isn't that. It's just this nice breath of fresh air, surrounded by dozens of tall buildings. So, hopefully more of this will be showing up. :)

8:24 P.M.

Hello everyone! I took some photographs of a dried leaf tonight, and after wards I couldn't resist getting in front of the camera. (Of Course...) I really do miss 365 sometimes. It was nice to have a finished product at the end of everyday. Even if they weren't so good sometimes...

Anyway, as I was racing to put my legs up in time for the camera, I had to push myself up with my toes, which apparently I have never done before because it felt like my muscles were being used for the first time, ever. Haha. So now my thigh muscles are sore, I've got some poppy music on repeat, and I'm settling down to edit some leaf pictures. Woah, boy. Expect another post with some pictures later :)
