zine club

This summer and fall, boxed up in my studio on the 5th floor, I found myself making tiny little books. Maybe because I didn't have the room or mental space to make big work. Maybe because they were private, little contained worlds. Maybe because I could finish them quickly and have something real to hold in my hands.

I made a little zine for our show Self-Similar, as a takeaway. (And actually, I still have some left so email me if you want one?) And then I had a ream of grey paper, enough for lots of tiny books.

I had this idea for a zine club brewing for so long. I met with a new friend Courtney and told her about it, and I didn't really have any excuses for not doing it, but somehow I managed to not do it. Until November, when I finally put it into action.

All of this to say: I have a zine club. Basically if you subscribe I send you a zine every month, for as many months as you subscribe for. It's pretty great. I get to make tiny books and keep inspired and keep motivated. You get to have tiny books and get inspired and maybe get motivated. (And get mail! I love mail.) It's pretty small, I'm no big time zine clubber, but I have like 8 subscribers so I consider myself a success.

Mostly the Zine Club is a way for me to experiment. A way to get baby ideas out into the world. And also a way to make those ideas real. It's also an avenue for writing, and words, and thoughts.

If you want to read the story that I wrote for Zine No. 3, go here: January 17, 2016

Seriously you guys I'm really excited about this and I hope you are too.
